A Scientific Symposium at the University of Kerbala entitled Viral Hepatitis

The Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Kerbala has held a scientific symposium entitled “Viral Hepatitis”, through the online platform using the Zoom program presented by Dr. Alaa Hussein Mahdi, and the Assist. Lect. Zulfiqar Abbas Muteeb.
The aim of the symposium is to introduce viral hepatitis and learn about its types and which types are more dangerous to humans, including the silent killer, how to investigate them and the analyzes used in addition to treatment and how to prevent them.
The lecturer explains that hepatitis is the emergence of an inflammatory condition in the liver tissue as a result of a viral infection, and there are 5 main types of viral hepatitis, referred to as A, B, C, D and E, and these five types are a major concern due to the disease burden, the death it causes and the possibility Epidemic outbreaks, and types B and C in particular lead to chronic disease in hundreds of millions of people, are the two most common causes of cirrhosis and cancer of the liver, and viral hepatitis is called a “silent killer” because the person with it may not have any symptoms or it may appear limited symptoms may not be noticed, and research prepared by scientists at the Imperial College in London concluded that viral hepatitis disease has become one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, bypassing diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
