The Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Karbala has held a national conference on moderation and its role in the civilizational progress to promote peaceful coexistence after ISIS stage, with the participation of a large number of researchers from different governorates of Iraq.

The conference, which was held under the slogan “Religious and political moderation, our path to civil peace and civilizational progress”, aims to establish and clarify the importance of moderation in religion and politics to build a Contemporary civil state and to defame extremism and violence and to show the falsity of the movements that adopt this deviant approach and remove the charge of extremism and violence from the Islamic religion that some are trying to attach to it and promote peaceful coexistence to achieve national reconciliation in Iraq Intellectual Convergence between Universities, State Institutions and Civil and Religious Institutions in Iraq.

The conference dealt with moderation as a way to combat religious extremism and the building of national identity and its importance in solving the crisis and consolidate the system of civil values and political behavior of social forces, along with his humanity as a culture and international experiences in this field

The conference discussed moderation as an approach to education and its role in a soft force in international relations and national reconciliation as well as the political philosophy of moderation and building modern civil state and management of diversity and social pluralism and moderation and media discourse contemporary moderation and political formation.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Saadi, Head of University of Karbala said that this conference has great importance to strengthen the line of moderation and not allow extremists to hijack our present and defend the image of Islam, which has been abused by terrorism and extremism, adding that the other side of the war on terrorism is through moderation and adherence to national constants.

noting that 80 papers were submitted to the conference that aimed to provide advice for an important stage in the history of Iraq in order to establish and establish a culture of dialogue, moderation and building the nation through a society based on peace, coexistence, interdependence, and renunciation of violence.

Sheikh Qutaiba Saadi Mahdi, the representative of the Sunni Endowment, said that this conference carries important contents and much needed by society to address extremist ideas. We need this conference to address many of the ideas aimed at ruining the unity of Iraq.

The member of Iraqi Council of Representatives Ibtisam al-Hilali said that the convening of this conference coincided with the victories achieved by the Popular Mobilization Forces and the Iraqi army and dealt with the post-urgent, which is one of the most important stages that must be worked to address them and we need to unite all beliefs in order to build a new society, Stressing that these efforts will work to eliminate sectarianism of one Iraq and create a kind of harmony and unity and moderation among all components.
