College of Education for Pure Sciences \/ University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled (Synthesis and characterization of azo-Schiff ligands derived from aromatic amines and some of their complexes with a biological study). <\/span>
\nTo be submitted by Zaman Hatem Mohammed Hussein, the study aims at prepaying two new azo-Schiff ligands derived from ethylene diamine. It also synthesizes some solid metal complexes for each of transitional element ions. <\/span>
\nThe thesis addresses characterization of ligands and their complexes using different spectroscopic techniques and mass spectrometry, and adopting some of these techniques to suggest geometric shapes of prepared complexes. <\/span>
\nThe study concludes that these two ligands are coordinated with metal ions according to availability of coordination sites, number of available donor atoms, and type of metal ion. The relative ease of preparing complexes of these ligands is due to multiplicity of their chelates and high stability of their complexes. <\/span>
\nTo sum up, it is recommended possibility of using new ligands (L1 (L2), in spectral estimation of other ions that are not chosen and studying resulting differences in coordination behaviour, and exploiting color property in field of analytical chemistry to benefit from it for detection and estimation or for extracting ions of elements under study, due to their ability to form colored chelate complexes.<\/span><\/p>\n
