Discussing phenomenon of cloning as one of the most dangerous outcomes of contemporary biological revolution, particularly following significant advancements in molecular biology and genetic engineering, Dr. Haider Hussein Al-Shammari, College of Law, University of Kerbala, has published a book which is entitled “Human Cloning in Era of Globalization and Digital Transformation: Its Implications and Challenges from Sharia and Legal Perspectives Towards a Contemporary Legislative Framework.”<\/span>
\nDr. Haider Hussein Al-Shammari focuses on scientific, ethical, and legal issues arising from possibility of applying cloning to humans, and accompanying social, religious, and legal implications affecting human identity, lineage, and family structure. The book also addresses absence of explicit legislative provisions in many national laws.<\/span>
\nThe book examines position of positive law and the legislator’s wavering between prohibition and regulation, contrasting it with Islamic jurisprudential perspective and differing opinions of contemporary scholars, ranging from absolute prohibition to conditional prohibition, or permissibility within scope of research and treatment, excluding procreation.<\/span><\/p>\n
