The Faculty of Science at the University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A. thesis entitled “Investigation of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the prepared gold nanostructures.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The thesis , submitted by student Noor Zaid Abdulaziz<\/i><\/em>, from the Department of Physics, aims at studying the physical properties of gold nanostructures and their uses in various fields, and testing their ability to visually identify samples of the nanostructured.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The thesis discusses that colloidal gold nanoparticles are desirable in applications in many fields such as physics, chemistry, as well as biotechnology, due to their special physical and chemical properties. \u00a0There are many different methods of fabricating gold nanoparticles.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The study deals with how to produce nanoparticles of colloidal gold of different sizes, by chemical reduction from a compound of gold chloride that contains an aqueous solution by Turkevich method. \u00a0The nature of the characteristics of the prepared samples and their morphology through many experimental tests such as: X-ray diffraction, a scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and a transmission electron microscope (TEM)).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It shows the possibility of preparing a nanocomposite preparation of epoxy resin polymer with gold nanoparticles by means of a spin coater device with different thicknesses and the use of two methods to calculate the nonlinear optical properties of the nanostructured, such as the nonlinear absorption coefficient, and the nonlinear refractive index.<\/span><\/p>\n
