Faculty of Nursing – University of Kerbala discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled \u201cEffective of Application of Ice Bag with Direct Pressure in the Prevention of Early Complications after Femoral Sheath Removal of Cardiac Catheterization\u201d. The thesis presented by Abbas Bakal Hammood.<\/span>
\nIt aims at learning about cardiac catheterization in common for the diagnosis and treatment of acute coronary syndrome, which usually leads to early complications of this procedure, to increase the length of stay in the hospital and costs.<\/span>
\nThe study concluded that nearly 40% of the participants were in the 60-69 age groups, more than 76% of them were male and more than 53% were smokers.<\/span>
\nThe thesis recommended instructions for making an ice pack by direct pressure after removing the femoral sheath to reduce the severity of bleeding, hematoma, bruising and pain. Another study should be conducted to verify the benefit of applying the ice pack with direct pressure over other interventional procedures such as removing the arteriovenous fistulae, the central venous line and the arterial line.<\/span><\/p>\n
