Faculty of Medicine – University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A. thesis considering diabetes, as a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion or insulin action or both.<\/span>
\nThe thesis is entitled (Evaluation of SMAD3 & SMAD2 and their relationship to transforming growth factor in type 2 diabetic patients with early and chronic diabetic nephropathy). It is prepared by Hussein Saeed Abbas. It aims at determining the role of SMAD2 and SMAD3 and their relationship with TGF-\u03b2 in type 2 diabetic patients with of early and chronic diabetic nephropathy in a sample of Iraqi population.<\/span>
\nThe study shows the importance of these markers in pathogenesis of DN which is supported by their association with albuminuria, high specificity and sensitivity by ROC analysis, and thus the possibility of their use as biochemical markers in DN has been suggested.<\/span><\/p>\n
