Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with Razzazah and Western Euphrates Research Unit , College of Science , University of Kerbala, has organized a workshop on the impact of climate change on local environment, innovative solutions and sustainable development.
Presented by Dean of the College (Dr. Hassan Jamil Jawad Al-Fatlawi), the workshop aims at raising awareness of issue of climate change as it represents one of the most difficult challenges facing the world today.
The workshop discusses the nature of climate change affecting local environment, its causes, nature of weather patterns and their effects on exacerbation of natural disasters such as drought and floods, and dimensions of phenomena that threaten agriculture, water resources, and public health in general.
It also focuses on the most important innovative solutions to confront climate change, including renewable energy, smart technology, and ways of recycling and sustainable development, so as to achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental protection through sustainable agriculture to ensure the future of next generations.
