Faculty of Pharmacy / University of Kerbala has organized an awareness campaign concerning World Antibiotic Awareness Week (18-24 November). It has been closed with a scientific lecture attended by Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Najm Abdul-Hussein and a number of faculties’ deans, under the supervision of Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Khazali.
The lecture, which has been presented by Lect. Tariq Hussein Musa, and Lect. Zahraa Muhammad Al-Hindawi, includes defining mechanism of antibiotics, which is one of the most prevalent drugs.
Lect. Tariq Hussein Musa, says: “some people resort to antibiotics all the time, believing that they are valid for every diseased condition, but the truth is completely different. Rather, taking them without a doctor’s approval and according to certain conditions may have fatal consequences”.
The campaign aims at raising awareness of antibiotic resistance and encourage best practices among the general public to avoid spread of drug-resistant infections.
