Faculty of Law, University of Kerbala, has held a symposium which is entitled” violence against women from a legal perspective”, in partnership with Al-Zahra University of the Holy Shrine and with the participation of a number of researchers and specialists.
The symposium includes two axes: The first is the legal aspect presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Esraa Fahmy, Head of Gender Unit – Faculty of Law, in which she has clarified the position of Islamic Sharia regarding violence against women, where Islamic Sharia honored women and gave them the status they deserve as a mother, daughter, wife or by reviewing the texts from the Qur’an and Sunnah that refer to this meaning.
The second one is the legal axis presented by Dr. Ashwaq Abdul Rasoul, Faculty of Law, in cooperation with Asst. Lect. Abeer Nouri from Al-Zahra University of the Holy Husseiniya Shrine, in which they deal with the position of legislation on the phenomenon of violence against women.
The symposium identifies some legal aspects of violence and its impact on society, and proposals have been made to confront this phenomenon, including raising the status of women in society.
