Dr. Aqeel Nazzal Al-Abidi, a teacher from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Kerbala, has published a scientific research entitled ((Natural Resistance to Potato Virus Y in Solanum tuberosum Groub phureja)) in the Theoretical and Applied Genetics, which is one of the discreet scientific journals classified within the first quarter (Q1). It has an impact factor 4.082 and is also contained within the Scopus and Clarivate containers.
The paper deals with mapping the genetic map of a new gene granting resistance to one of the plant viruses (Potato virus Y, PVY), who is diagnosed for the first time globally, and drawn on the genome of the potato plant, specifically in the middle of chromosome 9.
