A Lecturer from University of Kerbala Obtains a Patent from World Intellectual Property Organization in Switzerland

Asst. Prof. Dr. Zaid Mahdi Jaber Al-Obaidi / Faculty of Medicine – University of Kerbala obtains a patent from World Intellectual Property Organization – Patent Cooperation Treaty (WIPOPCT) in Geneva – Switzerland, to enable him to manufacture a medicinal derivative using green chemistry by microwave.
The patent includes how to prepare compound by increasing production and reducing time and solvents, in order to reduce reaction cost to approximately 99%. This prepared compound is used as a basic material for preparation of some compounds with inhibitory therapeutic properties for some types of cancer cell lines and as an anti-inflammatory in some studies on laboratory animals and others.
It should be noted that Al-Obaidi holds the title of inventor from International Federation of Inventors’ Societies, making this patent the fifth in his credit (three local and two international).
