A Researcher from University of Kerbala is one of them, Minister of Higher Education Honors Winners of Climate Research Award

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honours researchers who won award for scientific research on climate and its impact on security, stability and sustainability in Iraq.
In his speech during his meeting, and in the presence of Director General of Research and Development Department, Dr. Lubna Khamees Mahdi, he stresses the importance of linking scientific research paths to requirements of sustainable development, whose objectives are distributed across environmental, economic and social fields, indicating that Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research pays intense attention to contribution of universities in achieving highest level of responding to global development goals of United Nations, which made academic institutions record their positive competitiveness in Times Sustainable Development classification, which shows Iraq ranked seventh in the world.
He adds that higher education and scientific research institutions possess visions and solutions embodied by specialists, including professors and graduate students, through solid scientific research to confront urgent challenges, especially those related to environmental and climate variables.
Minister of Education continues that Iraqi government is interested in supporting scientific research with solid international publication, noting that the Ministry adopts a special policy and a qualitative interest in scientific research by honoring researchers with sums of money and a letter of thanks and appreciation to encourage publication in international journals affiliated with (Nature and Science Journals) and ( TOP Journals in Shanghai Ranking).
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, presents an amount of five million and a letter of thanks and appreciation to ten researchers from universities of Baghdad, Southern Technical University, Dhi Qar, Al-Qadisiyah, Kufa, Wasit, University of Kerbala, Al-Hamdaniyah, and Dijla, and renews progress of strengthening scientific publishing spaces and expanding circle of specialized research related to provide scientific treatments that would contribute so as to attain sustainable solutions to climate change problems.

He continued that the Iraqi scientific publishing index in academic institutions has become noticeably increasing, and that the interest of our universities in strengthening their balance in scientific research and competing in international classifications clearly indicates the strengthening of academic reputation and the provision of climates of openness and global communication, pointing out at the same time that the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils in  Baghdad, soon.
