Faculty of Medicine/ Kerbala University has discussed the Ph. D. dissertation which is entitled “Knowledge, Behaviors Practices of Breast Self-Examination among a group of female students at University of Kerbala”. I has been presented by Istabraq Muhammad Majeed. The dissertation aims at evaluating knowledge, behaviors and practice of breast self-examination. The results of this study show that the average age of the participants is 19.9 years (1.45 +-) .The highest participation rate was observed for the 18-20 age group (258 participants), where it was 66.3% compared to the rest of the age groups. It has been found that 75% of the participants live in urban areas. Though the study has documented a high level of awareness among students of Kerbala University, but the practice of breast self-examination is relatively low. This is often due not to know the exact method to be followed or students are not confident in finding any medical benefit from the practice.
