Kerbala University Discussing an MA. Thesis entitled “Weighted Mirra Distribution to estimate the reliability function

The Faculty of Administration and Economics/ Kerbala University has discussed the MA thesis which is entitled “Constructing the weighted (Mirra) distribution to estimate the dependency function A Practical Study”
The thesis, presented by Ali Hussein Nuri Al-Awadi, aims at identifying the use of the theory of weighted distributions in constructing a new proposed probability distribution known as the Weighted Mirra Distribution with three parameters (α, θ, c),
The thesis deals with some of its properties, estimation of its parameters and estimation of the reliability function in four estimation methods (the method of Maximum likelihood estimators (MLE), the method of least squares (LS), the method of weighted least squares (WLS) and the method of partial estimations of Reliability (PER), and for the purpose of comparison between the methods of Estimation of the reliability function, the Monte Carlo simulation method has been employed.
The thesis concludes that the priority of MLE method in calculating the reliability function of the new distribution at medium and large sample sizes, and the preference of the LS method at small sample sizes.
