A group of third-year students / Faculty of Engineering / Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics are able to manufacture a prosthetic limb for a patient with a below-knee amputation and who has problems with prosthetic limb that caused him back and foot pain.
After diagnosing the patient’s medical condition in laboratories of Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, students are able to take a mold of the patient’s leg and complete steps of making the limb, including casting the mold, sculpting it from gypsum, molding plastic, and assembling the limb.
This activity comes within efforts of Faculty of Engineering to provide services to community, train students to interact with real medical cases in society, and encourage them to engage in volunteer work to serve community.
