University of Kerbala Conducting a Practical Experiment on Rats to Evaluate Anti-Inflammatory Drugs

Drugs and Toxicology Laboratory / Faculty of Pharmacy / University of Kerbala holds a practical experiment to evaluate anti-inflammatory drugs for fourth-year students in pharmacology subject.
During the experiment, inflammation is induced locally in foot of one of white rats using an egg white substance, and clear classic signs of inflammation appeared. The thickness of the skin is measured before and after inflammation, and the difference becomes clear. Then, an anti-inflammatory drug is used to evaluate its effectiveness by following up on measuring thickness of the skin and swelling that resulted in foot of a laboratory animal.
It is noteworthy that this experiment can be conducted for chemicals and plant extracts that have anti-inflammatory significance or activity to measure their initial effectiveness in this field.
