University of Kerbala Discussing a PhD Dissertation on Construction of Probability Distribution in Polar Coordinate System with Uniform Angles

Faculty of Management and Economics / University of Kerbala has discussed the Ph.D dissertation on construction of probability distribution in polar coordinate system with uniform angles with a practical application for purpose of generating electrical energy from wind.
The study relies on constructing joint probability function for Weibull distribution in polar coordinate system (r, θ) and finding marginal distribution function for polar Weibull distribution, in addition to find some important characteristics of new distribution and addressing four methods (MLE, MOM, OLS, WLS) for purpose of estimating parameters of distribution.
The study, presented by Ali Abdel Zahra Hassan, aims at building a proposed probability distribution ( marginal polar Weibull distribution) for purpose of representing data that includes angles, distances, or speed, obtaining properties of proposed distribution, performing application on real data represented by wind speed and angle of direction, and obtaining a model, a probabilistic representation of that data, along with an indication of the most important characteristics of the proposed distribution.
The proposed distribution can be used to estimate probability of future wind speed, as well as through comparison in applying the model in separate regions or cities for purpose of benefiting from it in generating electrical energy that depends on wind speed.
The study recommends applying polar coordinate system to many probability distributions, especially those that can be applied to cases that include two variables (bivariate). It is possible to benefit from proposed distribution that is reached in estimating probability of future wind speeds. A comparison can also be made between applying the model in outspread regions or cities for purpose of being used to generate electrical energy that depends on wind speed.
