University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Right to Privacy in Iraq”

College of Law _ University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A. thesis which is entitled “Right to Privacy in development of Artificial Intelligence in Iraq: A Comparative study”.
Being submitted by Muhammad Ali Hamdan, the study aims at analyzing the profound impacts imposed by the use of artificial intelligence on individual’s right to privacy by examining adequacy of existing constitutional and legislative frameworks in confronting these threats. In light of rapid technological developments, it has become necessary to reevaluate traditional tools for protecting fundamental rights and freedoms.
The study finds out that articulating the concept of right to privacy in a detailed and precise manner in legislation and judiciary remains a major challenge, despite abundance of legal texts and judicial rulings related to cases of violations. Furthermore, treatment of right to privacy in Iraq differs fundamentally from that found in French and American legislation. These two countries have enacted clear and independent legislation that directly and comprehensively addresses privacy protection, while in Iraq, it is only partially included in legal texts.
