Being presented by Alaa Malik Waad, College of Science, University of Kerbala has examined the M.A thesis which is entitled Cancer Risks of Transferred Radionuclides from soil to Plants in Karbala Governorate Iraqi.
The study analyzes 50 samples of soil and agricultural plants. It reveals that some radioactive elements, despite remaining within permissible limits, can accumulate as a result of the continued use of chemical fertilizers.
The study recommends the need to encourage farmers and urge them to use organic fertilizers to reduce accumulation of harmful and radioactive elements in soil in order to provide adequate protection for the environment and public health.
