College of Veterinary Medicine / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled “Detection of Ecoparasiticide Residues in Animal Products Cattle Meat, Milk and Milk products in Karbala Province”.
Being submitted by Zainab Ali Jabr, this study aims at evaluating concentrations of pesticides “Cypermethrin” and “Ivermectin” in beef, cow’s milk, cheese, and butter, using gas-liquid chromatography technique, and compare them with permissible levels according to standards of World Health Organization.
The results show presence of very high concentrations of these toxic substances in animal products, which raises concerns about safety and health of consumers. These pesticides are considered one of the main tools that animal breeders and veterinary clinics rely on to combat ticks, which is the primary carrier of virus that causes hemorrhagic fever.
