University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis on Experimental Evaluation of Mechanically Stabilized Soil

Faculty of Engineering / University of Kerbala has discussed experimental evaluation of mechanically stabilized soil using poor soil quality from city of Al-Husseiniyah in Karbala.
The study aims at reducing the impact of loads placed on roads by decreasing the impact of loads on weak soils by improving properties of upper layers of the road using geogrid.
The thesis concludes that there is a clear improvement in bearing capacity of soil after carrying out reinforcement operations using geogrid for upper layers of the road, due to ability of geogrid networks to distribute loads in a regular manner. The thesis also finds out that it is possible to use crushed gravel, class C, with presence of reinforcement layers, as an alternative to layer of crushed gravel, class B.
