College of Engineering – University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis of Effects of high concentrations of sulphate on environment, and method of removing them from water resulting from treatment plants.
The study, presented by Ashraf Fakhry Obaid, aims at reducing sulfates concentration to what is consistent with acceptable limits of World Health Organization, estimated at (250) milligrams per liter of drinking water.
The study concludes that produced material has a high ability to remove dissolved pollutants, as this is demonstrated in its removal of dissolved of sulphates at a rate exceeding (90%).
