University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis on Liquidity Risk Management Strategy and its Impact on Market Value Added (MVA)

Faculty of Administration and Economics / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled strategy of managing liquidity risks and its impact on market value added – an analytical study of a sample of private Iraqi banks listed on Iraqi Stock Exchange.
The study, presented by Shahad Ibrahim Ahmed, aims at raising MVA of Iraqi commercial banks by studying strategies of managing liquidity risks and highlighting the most important obstacles that cause liquidity problems in banks by analyzing some indicators and gaps that negatively affect MVA of banks.
The study relies on reports and statements of bank listed on Iraq Stock Exchange, as well as the use of longitudinal data (Panel Data) for purpose of studying annual events during the study period.
The thesis concludes that there is a statistically significant impact relationship of liquidity risk management on MVA , while it recommends the necessity of managing liquidity in the bank in a manner consistent with the goal of meeting customer demands and reducing alternative opportunity costs to maintain MVA.
