Faculty of Nursing – University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A. thesis which is entitled (the effect of the educational programme on midwives’ knowledge regarding the Lamaze method during labour). It is presented by Sherine Awaz Hassan.
The purpose of this thesis is finding out what non-pharmacological measures (such as Lamaze techniques) are used by midwives to facilitate comfort for a woman during labour, and the guidelines for the use of these measures, which are usually insufficient or absent.
The thesis discusses the importance of including knowledge in medical education as it is important in addressing the consequences of how to manage pain during labour.
The thesis indicates that there is an improvement in midwives’ knowledge after the post-test of the experimental group due to the educational programme of the Lamaze method and the training of midwives’ staff through the implementation of such a training program that actually helps to develop their knowledge.
