College of Veterinary Medicine / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled “role of green nano-ginseng extract as an antioxidant in physiological parameters and fertility of rats exposed to potassium dichromate”, submitted by Muhammad Abd Ali Hamza.
The study aims at demonstrating toxic effects of potassium dichromate on male reproductive system of rats and the role of nano-ginseng in reducing these effects using delivery mechanism via nanoparticles.
The study includes measuring liver enzymes, antioxidants superoxide dismutase and catalase, and measuring MDA and hormones after rats were exposed to an excessive dose of potassium dichromate.
The study finds out that there is a decrease in levels of testosterone and both LH and FSH, in addition to a significant decrease in levels of enzyme catalase and superoxide dismutase, corresponding to an increase in level of malondialdehyde.
