University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis on the Use of Problem-based Learning Strategy in Social Studies

College of Education for Human Sciences / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled “The effect of using problem-based learning strategy on achieving and developing cognitive motivation among second-year intermediate students in social studies,” submitted by Hammam Mosadeq Kazar.
The study aims at investigating the effect of using the problem-based education strategy on achieving and developing cognitive motivation among second-year intermediate students in social studies.

The study uses experimental approach with two equal groups, where research sample is divided into two groups: an experimental group that studied according to problem-based learning strategy, and a control group that studied according to traditional method.
The study concludes that using problem-based learning strategy significantly improved students’ achievement in experimental group compared to students in control group, and also has led to development of their cognitive motivation.
