University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis on Using Behaviour of a Magnetic Rheological (MR) damper to Enhancement Vehicle Suspension System

Faculty of Engineering /University of Kerbala had investigated the use of a magnetic rheological (MR) damper to improve response of car suspension system. It is presented by Hussein Muhannad Hussein.

The thesis includes a study and simulation of semi-active suspension system using MR damper technique using quarter-car model in simulating response of the system through the Matlab / Simulink environment.

The skyhook technology with SFM has been used to predict required damping force and produce an equivalent effort. The results shows a significant improvement in damping road profile vibrations by 50% from vertical displacement and 39% from vertical acceleration compared to passive suspension.
