University of Kerbala
Womens Empowerment Unit at Presidency of University of Kerbala has held the first international cultural forum to eliminate violence against women under the slogan ( Religion honors you and law protects you), in coordination with faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology and in cooperation with Al-Zahra University for women, and on occasion of 16-day campaign, in University Presidency Hall / Freiha campus.
The forum aims at raising societal awareness of the role of women, rrejecting violence against them, and showing size of the problems that women face around the world.
President of the University, Prof. Dr. Basim K. Nile, says that women are among the most important active groups in society, not only at local level, but also globally, which always makes them in focus of the university’s attention, stressing that the organization of this forum indicates the full seriousness of this approach, which focuses on women issues, especially providing comprehensive support and empowerment for women in various fields.
Nile adds that University of Kerbala has an important role in enhancing the status of women in society, especially the selection of a number of women among administrative and scientific leaders, as well as working on equal opportunities and duties for women in all fields.
He also stresses that the launch of this forum is a representation of the thought of university leaders at University of Kerbala in standing with women, and that Karbala is the starting point in this matter due to its religious, touristic and scientific status.
