College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Kerbala, in cooperation with Iraqi National Security Service’s Training and Development Department, Karbala Security Directorate, holds a scientific workshop entitled “Karbala is Free of Drugs – The Role of Security Institutions.”
Being presented by Training Officer Major Ghaith Ali Hamid Al-Masoudi, the workshop addresses the topic in an interactive and educational manner, dangers of drugs and their health, psychological, and social effects, in addition to legal aspects according to Narcotics Law No. (50) of 2017, as well as religious perspective that prohibits this scourge due to its devastating effects on individuals and society as well.

The workshop also emphasized the importance of student awareness and community vigilance, and the role of university youth in drug prevention. It also introduced the mechanisms for contacting the National Security Service via the hotline (131) to report suspicious cases with complete confidentiality, thus contributing to strengthening community and university security.
