College of Law, University of Kerbala, in cooperation with Human Rights Division, organizes a symposium on “Towards a National Strategy to Combat Violent Extremism”.
Being presented by Prof. Majid Al-Masoudi, Director of Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights- Karbala, Dr. Samer Muayyad and Dr. Badour Salim Al-Kinani – College of Law, the symposium discusses legal, human rights and intellectual dimensions of phenomenon of violent extremism, and ways to address it within a comprehensive national framework that is consistent with principles of human rights and rule of law.
It focuses on the importance of building a national strategy based on intellectual prevention, promoting community awareness, and integrating of academic, human rights, and security institutions roles. It also emphasizes the university’s role to establish a culture of moderation and rejecting violence.
