University of Kerbala Holds its First Conference on Nursing Sciences

College of Nursing, University of Kerbala organizes its first international scientific conference in cooperation with nursing colleges _University of Baghdad, Babylon University, University of Al-Sibtain, Al-Ameed university, and Department of Nursing _ Al-Safwa University College. The conference also includes participation of a group of researchers from inside and outside Iraq.
Bringing together researchers and healthcare practitioners, the conference has been held under patronage of His Excellency Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and supervised by President of the University Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali.
It is under the slogan “Modernizing Nursing Curricula – Quality Education for Better Healthcare.”
Dr. Haider Mohammed Umran; Vice president for Scientific affairs, states that the convening of the conference reflects the university’s serious efforts to advance level of education and research in nursing sciences, which constitute cornerstone of health system and a fundamental pillar of human care.
He adds that the conference provides a platform for exchange of knowledge and expertise in scientific research between researchers and practitioners and strengthens bridges of cooperation with universities and healthcare institutions.
Dean of College of Nursing, Dr. Salman Hussein Faris, remarks that holding this conference on teaching methods is a result of standpoint of developing curricula and to prepare professional practitioners capable of performing their mission with competence and compassion, meeting needs of society and demands of labour market.
He resumes his discussion saying that the conference includes a number of papers in several scientific heal fields distance learning, challenges and opportunities in reviewing Bologna Process, teaching strategies, and effective assessment tools for students’ skills in laboratories and clinical environment.
