College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Kerbala holds a scientific symposium on “Cyber Extortion”.
Being presented by Asst. Lect. Hamid Jawad Kadhim and Asst. Lect. Nasreen Alaa El-Din Hashim, the symposium aims at explaining the concept of cyber extortion and modern crimes resulting from technological development and the use of digital communication methods.
It deals with the concept and types of cyber extortion, its definition, and various forms across social media platforms and digital applications. It also addresses reasons of its spread, such as a lack of digital literacy, unsafe internet use, excessive trust in others, and absence of family and community oversight.
