Rp-Religious beliefs among pre-Islamic Arabs in the Arabian Peninsula through the book “Dictionary of Countries” by Yaqut al-Hamawi.pdf

Praise be to the Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the most honorable of the prophets and messengers, Abu Al-Qasim Muhammad, and upon his family and all his companions, and whoever calls upon his call, adheres to his guidance, and follows his path until the Day of Judgment, and after:

Anyone who follows the history of the Arabs before Islam will find that they were distinguished among the peoples of the ancient world by morals and talents that set them apart from other nations, such as eloquence, strength of speech, love of freedom and nobility, chivalry and courage, frankness in speech, quality of memory, strength of memory, and love of… Equality, willpower, and generosity in the political, social, economic, military, and religious aspects of life, and the Arabs were not taken into account at that time for their religion, which was diverse and collapsed into paganism and polytheism.
Therefore, research into the history of the Arabs before Islam, and studying the aspects of Arab life from all aspects, deserves attention, care, and effort to clarify the honorable image that must be placed in its proper place in the field of human civilization.
The field of religious studies of the Arabian Peninsula remains in need of extensive and continuous treatment by researchers, due to the scarcity of available information and its scattering among ancient source books, in addition to the limited scope of previous researchers’ studies and their confinement to a limited part of the subject, which made the study of religious beliefs among pre-Islamic Arabs An inevitable and required study, with awareness of the difficulty of this study with the lack of studies and archaeological discoveries.
From here, the scope of the research began to shed light on a group of divine beliefs and religions in the book “Dictionary of Countries” by Yaqut al-Hamwi, to be a historical and analytical study for an almost unlimited period of time. It begins with the creation of humanity and the appearance of Adam (peace be upon him), and moves to one of the most important events. Which has passed through the history of humanity, namely the emergence of Islam, and the emergence of light over that nation and the belief in most of the Arabs’ beliefs and their previous heavenly religions, and the rejection of the negative and pagan effects that were mixed with them throughout the many historical eras.
As for the reason for choosing the topic, it was an attempt to shed light on the life of a prominent Muslim scholar in the sixth century AH, known for his abundant geographical, historical and literary productions, in addition to an attempt to reveal some of the characteristics of pre-Islamic Arab civilization and demonstrate the authenticity of that civilization and its distinction from the rest. Civilizations that existed in the world previously, and the emphasis is on that it is a vital and positive civilization. Despite its isolation, it was able to interact with other civilizations, beliefs and religions. It is a civilization of inclusion and interconnectedness that includes this world and the hereafter, man and the universe. They are a living nation whose land was the cradle of many religions, especially religion. Hanifiyya Ibrahimi .
The nations neighboring them followed it in their religion and they did not follow it, and this attempt in research came in response to what the Orientalists were promoting when they wrote about the history of the Arabs before Islam and their beliefs and religion, in that the Arab nation suffered from an intellectual vacuum, but rather they had a high degree of intellectual awareness, and the best evidence is Due to this, there were many divine beliefs and religions, so they practiced all types of worship rituals according to what their thinking dictated .
In conclusion, I thank God Almighty for giving me the patience and strength to accomplish this work, and God grant me success.
