Russian and China possess geographical great infrastructure ( natural and human), economic, technological, and political that enabled them to perform an active role in the nature of their relation regionally and internationally. Choosing Russian and China as a sample of studying international relations in accord to the impact of the current war on it is considered a typical sample for the study due to the presence of many common factors that can participate in building relations between the two sides. This, in turn, leads to building cooperative system on all levels (political, economic, and military) particularly with prominent rise of China and strength of its economic power.
However, these are supported by many geographical infrastructures like area, population, markets, industry, and natural resources. On the contrary, Russia possesses the natural resources (oil and gas) as well its high technological military power. Therefore, the two powers’ business and their understanding to the right and significance of this cooperation between them required approaching which led to their declaration of ” the Russian- Chinese association” in 1996, and the association without limits in 2023.
Thus, Russian and China passes in their direction and this led to development and spreading the cooperation between them in all levels especially that both sides are in need for each another. Russian is in need for China for it represents the big market for power and arms and this supports economy. China is in need for Russian in military field and power after its change into a consumer state due to its industrial development. This is in addition to their cooperation in the multiple side institutions as Shanghai organization and Prix group, as well the two states’ desire to face American dominance economically and military.
These growing relations between Russian and China evoked United States of America, European Union, and their allies especially what it weakened their influence of the western punishment on Russia, rather it motivated the last to continue policies of imposing authority in Europe continent. These relations may form a strategic substitute for the economic relations between Russia and Europe that had witnessed prosperity after Soviet Union collapse. Then, it gradually deteriorated after the global financial crisis in 2007 and conjoin Moscow to Crimea as a result, it exacerbated during Ukraine war.
