Abstract:
The political and party life in Turkey during its modern and contemporary history has received the attention of many researchers and writers, due to the political importance of Turkey and its regional weight and geographical location. Turkey went through political developments that affected its political, social and economic conditions. Al-Wahdat (Turkish) is one of those parties that practiced political work, and it had an impact on most of the situations and crises of events in Turkey since its founding. However, this party did not have detailed academic studies, but was mentioned occasionally. The party had a prominent role in forming coalition governments, which was reflected in social life. economic as well as political.
Hence the importance of this study, which was titled (Unity Party and its political role in Turkey 1966-1980). As for determining its time frame, it passes through two important dates. The first is the date of forming the party and obtaining the fundamentalist approvals. The second is the end of the party after the 1980 coup d’état, and it was finally attended, as well as the end of the Third Turkish Republic. Because of the difficulty of determining the influence of the party in the domestic arena, we adopted the methodology of pairing the unity of the subject with the chronology of the study.
As for the problem of the letter, it is related to an attempt to understand the role of the Unity Party in Turkey and its treatment of the issues of the Alawite community in particular and the Turkish society in general during its presence in the Grand National Council during the period (1966-1980). The conditions of the Alawite sect, and did it adhere to secularism as a way to get rid of sectarian segregation, and was it able to obtain many gains for the sect during its accession to the National Assembly, and to what extent the political conflict reflects on the party’s performance, and will the party succeed in its endeavor and determine its political influence and answer the hypotheses put forward The study was divided into an introduction and three chapters, as well as an introduction and a conclusion.
