A Scientific Delegation from University of Kerbala Visits Wageningen University

A scientific delegation from University of Kerbala, headed by President of the University, Prof. Dr. Basim Khalil Nile, has visited (Netherlands / Wageningen University). The delegation has attended the workshop held by the university which is entitled
٥“Establishing Partnerships & Strengthening Capacities in Efficient Water Management & Climate Smart Agriculture in Iraq”
The delegation consists of a number of professors in different scientific disciplines. Prof. Dr. Basim Khalil Nile, Prof. Dr. Waqid Hamid Hassan, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hadi Ahmed, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Hussein Karim, Dr. Adnan Abdel Jalil Lahof, Dr. Seinaa Muslim Abdel, Dr. Kadhim Mohamed Abdullah, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Razzaq Abdel Reda, Asst. Prof. Zainab Hussein Alwan, and Lect. Sumayah Amal Al-Deen.
Efficient water management, climate smart agriculture and institutional capacity strengthening, including the signing of a Gender Equality Plan for each of six universities, and exchange on international partnerships and curriculum features to optimize labour and career opportunities, have been scheduled as part of the OKP project led by Wageningen University, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and managed by Nuffic in The Hague. WU partners with IHE Delft and ICRA in this project with six Iraqi universities including University of Kerbala.
This unique exchange has been opened on Monday 8 November in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hisham Al Alawi, Ambassador of Iraq to the Netherlands; Merel de Koninck of the Dutch embassy in Iraq; Titia Bredée, director-general of Nuffic, Bram de Vos, WUR director Environmental Sciences, and Coen Ritsema, WUR professor and project leader. 
The delegation has agreed on setting of workshops and training courses for University of Kerbala’s employees, so as to aim at transferring knowledge acquired by the university delegation in terms of technology for effective education systems, project management, and conducting scientific research in the field of smart climate agriculture and water management. There is also partnership contract and signing of a memorandum of understanding with Wageningen University to expand the circle of cooperation in field of education and research, as well as submitting to Programme “Horizon Europe” (2027).
