College of Pharmacy_ University of Kerbala holds a workshop on quality assurance of scientific journals , with participation of a number of researchers and specialists.
The workshop, which has been presented by Dr. Susan Jabir Abbas, reviews the most important mechanisms of verifying quality of local and international journals by examining their indexing in Scopus and Web of Science databases. It also provides an understanding of how to use these sites and search them accurately and effectively.
The workshop aims at enhancing postgraduate students’ awareness of requirements of quality academic publishing and enabling them to distinguish between solid journals and predatory journals, thus contributing to raise quality of scientific research.

The workshop addresses methods of calculating impact factor of scientific journals. It also displays a group of academic and scientific websites concerned with journal quality, most notably Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals website, DOAJ, and official websites of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
