A joint research team from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kerbala and a team from the University of Baghdad have obtained a patent from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control in the Ministry of Planning whom are able to manufacture low-cost hollow membranes from Iraqi kaolin clay for Natural Gas Purification.
The patent aims at identifying ways of manufacturing a membrane with high efficiency in separation of components and its use in purifying the components of extracted gas.
The patent includes the manufacture of a hollow ceramic membrane from Iraqi kaolin clay to form a low-cost and highly efficient membrane during separation process and to have a hydrophobic capacity for use in the process of purifying natural gas associated with oil extracted from oil wells.
