Faculty of Islamic Sciences / University of Kerbala, in coordination with Women Empowerment Unit, has held a scientific symposium on social networking sites and their impact on family disintegration, with participation of a number of specialists and researchers.
The symposium aims at shedding light on negative impact of the use of social networking sites on family, in terms of wasting time, deteriorating family relations, widening gap between parents and children, isolation and introversion of family members, and high divorce rates.
The symposium discusses negative effects of social networking sites in spreading division among family members and disintegrating of family relations.
The symposium stresses the need not to use social networking sites for long periods, which causes complete disconnection from family community, to activate the role of media education, parents, elites, and community leaders in providing guidance and guidance against the incorrect use of these sites, in addition to preparing counseling and training programs to develop social responsibility among groups of children and youth. It also deals with how to use and develop positive behaviour among young people in their use of these sites.
