An M. A. Thesis at the University of Kerbala Discussing the Protective Role of Berries Extract

The Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences at Kerbala University has  discussed the M. A. thesis entitled (A Study of the Protective Role of Raspberry Plant Extract on some Blood and Tissue Changes of the Kidney in Rats treated with sodium fluoride). It has been fulfilled online on the Zoom application so as to communicate with a member of the committee.

The thesis,  submitted by the student Shatha Jalal Aziz Al-Mousawi,  aims at explaining the protective role of raspberry in suppressing the toxic effects of sodium fluoride on the standards in the concentration of blood electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, urea, creatinine), anti-oxidant criteria in the blood, which include (CAT, SOD ).  And the concentration of total blood proteins (Total protein, Albumin, Globulin).  The histological structure of the Kidney.

The discussion showed that the treatment of some animals with cranberry extract led to the occurrence of clear positive changes against the toxic effects in biochemical parameters and the level of creatine, urea and blood electrolytes.  It also protects the kidney tissues from the toxic effects of sodium fluoride.

The discussion shows that when treating some animals with sodium fluoride leads to a significant decrease in their weights and the occurrence of tissue changes in all animals, including the appearance of blood congestion and cell death along with glomerular shrinkage and a significant decrease in blood proteins and antioxidants when treatment, and a significant increase in blood electrolytes.

The discussion emphasizes the encouragement and development of traditional treatment and dependence on it and the use of traditional or popular medicines on a large scale for several centuries, at the forefront of which are medicinal plants as they contain a large number of chemical compounds which makes them of great medicinal value, as well as being a nutritional source for humans, as it is one of  Medicinal plants because they contain important chemical compounds used for medicinal purposes, including cranberries. Alternative medicine has given special attention to its use in the prevention of diseases such as diabetes, bladder diseases, eye diseases, various injuries, and the treatment of skin diseases such as burns and pimples.
