Kerbala University Discussing an M.A Thesis entitled “Political Expressions in Ahmed Matar’s Poetry”

Faculty of Education for Human Sciences / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled (Political Expressions in Ahmed Matar’s Poetry: A Semantic Study). It has been presented by Youssef Abdel-Zahra Yassin.
The discussion aims at studying political expressions whose significance is linked to a general concept, so as to clarify the semantic relations within each field, if any, and to know how the poet uses of political term with a contemporary linguistic or political connotation.
The study concludes that Ahmed Matar’s connection stemming from poverty, deprivation, persecution and exile with the general experience of the Arab and Islamic nation that is pervaded by fragmentation, repression and suppression of freedoms, as his poems express the poet’s own experience, which in turn shows the reality of his nation in which he lives The significance of the political words used by the poet between reality and metaphor. The methods in which the poet excelled are quotation and implication.
