Faculty of Education for Human Sciences -University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A. thesis which is entitled “Evaluation of Social Books in intermediate Grade according to “Webb” classification for depth of knowledge”. It is presented by Ali Latif Abd Odeh.
The thesis aims at evaluating the questions of social books of intermediate stage according to WEEB’s depth of knowledge, and to assess the activities of social books for the intermediate stage according to WEEB’s classification of depth of knowledge.
The discussion shows the presence of varying levels of depth of knowledge in social studies books of intermediate stage in varying proportions – the weak level of strategic thinking and extended thinking in the social books of the middle stage – the imbalance of the chapters of social studies books in presentation of the scientific material.
The study recommends the need to take into account the levels of depth of knowledge when preparing questions and activities of textbooks of subject of social sciences, and the necessity of diversifying the questions and activities included in social studies books for the intermediate stage.
