University of Kerbala Discussing a Ph. D. Dissertation entitled “Feudalism in the Middle East”

 

Being submitted by Mushriq Dhiaa Musa, College of Education for Humanities has discussed a Ph.D. dissertation which is entitled” Feudalism in the Middle East 41-334 AH / 661-945 AD”.
The study aims at shedding light on political, economic, and social aspects of feudal society in Islamic East, and understanding surrounding circumstances that influenced its continued survival and development.
The dissertation includes five chapters. The first chapter deals with definition of terms, such as feudalism, its types and derivatives. The second one studies attitude of ruling political authority on feudal society in the East during Umayyad rule.
The third chapter shows attitude of ruling political authority with regard to feudal society. The fourth chapter displays an economic study of feudal society, and the last chapter reveals some aspects of social life that feudal society experienced in the Islamic East.
The study ends up with the idea that state of imbalance in Islamic society and class disparity resulting from income disparities, which led to a class gap that widened over time. Generally, there is an attempt to highlight the impact of feudalism and accumulation of capital on economic situation.
