University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis on Evaluation of Trade Policy Using Kaldor Square

Faculty of Administration and Economics / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A. thesis which is entitled “evaluation of trade policy using Kaldor square : experiences of selected countries, with special reference to Iraq.”
The study, which is presented Asmaa Sami Muhammad Jawad Al-Yisari, follows descriptive analytical method based on inductive method for the purpose of analyzing variables of trade policy and some macroeconomic variables during period 2003-2020 and measuring relationship between economic variables used in the research using Ardel model.
The study aims at studying the role of commercial policy in components of a square such as the role in ( United States of America, Algeria and Iraq), as trade policy is known for its great role in influencing economic activity.
The study concludes that components of the role square are represented by some macroeconomic indicators, which may be associated with a fundamental relationship in trade policy, and that nature of this relationship may differ from one economy to another according to degree of progress and nature of economic system followed and government’s philosophy regarding objectives of macroeconomic policy.
The study recommends that economic transformation in Iraq requires measures to develop foreign trade sector, stimulate non-oil exports, and move towards private sector through cooperation and coordination between public and private sectors.
