University of Kerbala Discussing a PhD Dissertation on Orientalist Wilfred Madelung’s Works related to Imam Ali (peace be upon him)

Being explained religiously and historically, College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala, has discussed the Ph.D dissertation which is entitled “Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in German Orientalist Wilfred Madelung’ Works: The Book of Prophet Muhammad’s succession as a Model)”.
The study, which is submitted by Fadhil Abbas Mash’al, aims at identifying academic methodology of t aforementioned Orientalist, as well as demonstrating the wait dealing with historical narratives and the nature of his analysis of them.
The dissertation includes three chapters. The first one addresses Madelung and the German Orientalist school, while the second chapter is entitled “Madelung’s Theses on Islamic Caliphate.” The last one is dedicated to present Imam Ali’s view and his succession.
The study concludes that Madelung does not rely solely on authentic and authoritative Shi’a sources, which led his study to lean towards a singular perspective in terms of diversity of sources.
