College of Science / University of Kerbala has discussed the Ph.D dissertation which is entitled “Study of some immune related and immunological Factor in Patients with Sepsis due to Community acquired pneumonia”.
The study, submitted by Jaafar Salman Jassim, aims at finding out diagnostic methods represented by studying bacteria causing these infections and knowing antibiotics sensitive to these bacteria.
The study addresses finding out diagnostic methods represented by studying complete blood test, immune indicators and some genes associated with immunity for early detection of these infections and reducing these deaths.
The study concludes that streptococcus pneumoniae is the most common bacterial pathogen in patients suffering from community-acquired pneumonia.
The study recommends conducting another study to detect causative microorganisms, and using molecular methods to detect bacterial factors in diagnosing community-acquired pneumonia.
