College of Engineering / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled (Implementation of a Small-scale Low-cost Electric Drive System for Medical Applications).
The thesis, submitted by Athraa Hussam Aliwi, aims at using artificial intelligence to improve performance of surgical robots that require high accuracy in performance.
The thesis confirms that medical robots are one of the latest technologies in field of surgery, as robotic-assisted surgery has been developed to simulate movement of the human hand, while reducing vibrations and unintended movements from traditional surgery. These systems consist of precise surgical tools mounted on robotic arms controlled by surgeon via computer programs, making operations less invasive and more accurate. The project focuses on developing and simulating a robotic arm to achieve square sutures of uterine lining with high accuracy to reduce postpartum bleeding.
This thesis is considered one of the promising projects that aims at improving surgical operations and helping surgeons perform operations successfully, which contributes to reduce surgical errors and developing surgical outcomes. These projects contribute significantly to support medical field and raising efficiency of health services.
