University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis on Crime of Electronic Begging

Faculty of Law / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled “crime of electronic begging”, submitted by Murtada Hussein Muhammad.
The study aims at addressing phenomenon of online begging, which is considered one of social diseases that accompanied emergence of modern technologies.
The study concludes that there is a clear legislative deficiency in criminal laws that combat electronic crimes, including crime of electronic begging.
The study recommends the necessity of adding a new text to effective Iraqi Penal Code stipulating that every person who begs using electronic devices be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than three years or a penalty exceeding five million Iraqi dinars.
