University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis on Evaluating Immune-related Genes for Development of Lupus Erythematosus

University of Kebala has discusses the M.A thesis which is entitled Evaluating Immune-related Genes for Development of Lupus Erythematosus in Iraqi patients.
The study, presented by Fatima Abdel Hussein Kadhim, aims at evaluating expression of some genes (ITGAM, TNFAIP3, and cytokines IFN α) (TLR7), which are associated with systemic lupus erythematosus in patients in selected governorates of Iraq.
The study concludes that social and demographic factors such as gender, marital status, and family history affect susceptibility to developing lupus, as values ​​of antibodies to (ANA) and (dsDNA) are much higher in serum of lupus patients compared to normal values.
